The Green Dot Police

My manager watches our chat status like it is a security feed. If my little green dot goes yellow for more than a few minutes, I get a message asking if I am available, even when my work is done and I already answered emails. Last week I stepped away to heat up lunch and came back to two pings and a calendar invite called “quick sync.” The quick sync was about being “visible” online. Nobody mentioned the actual projects I finished that day. It is weirdly exhausting to feel managed by a status icon.
